Animal Welfare
Infosys Hyderabad DC Volunteers visited Blue Cross of Hyderabad
Animal Welfare Club was one of the clubs in Hyderabad DC which was very vividly active pre-pandemic has now risen back to its previous glory after almost four years with more than 75 active volunteers with strong passion, dedication, and a collective desire to make a difference in the lives of animals and the volunteers are growing every other day.
In order keep the club active, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team of Hyderabad DC decided to explore opportunities of volunteering for Animals and the first step began with an activity at “Blue Cross of Hyderabad”, an animal welfare society founded in 1992. Ten volunteers, brimming with anticipation, arrived at the Blue Cross of Hyderabad by 10 AM, eager to partake in the daily routines of the diverse residents – dogs, cats, a horse, donkey, pig, and cows.
Immersing themselves in the care of these animals, the volunteers experienced a profound sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. This enriching experience culminated in a special interaction with Amala Akkineni, the esteemed founder of Blue Cross of Hyderabad. Her insightful session delved into the organization's remarkable 32-year journey, highlighting their transformative shift from pure animal welfare to a holistic approach that prioritizes Animal Birth Control (ABC) as the cornerstone of responsible pet care. The dedicated efforts of the 10 volunteers not only ensured exceptional care for approximately 120 animals at the shelter but also ignited a deeper understanding of ABC's crucial role. The volunteers gained valuable knowledge about the various stages of the program, its impact on animal welfare, and the importance of population control. This newfound knowledge, coupled with the heartwarming experience of caring for the animals, fueled a renewed sense of purpose within the team. The Animal Welfare Club at Infosys Hyderabad DC is poised to make a significant contribution to the well-being of animals in Hyderabad. The revitalization of the Animal Welfare Club is a testament to the enduring human spirit of compassion. With a committed team, dedicated volunteers, and the invaluable expertise of established organizations like Blue Cross of Hyderabad, the club is primed to be a beacon of hope, ensuring a brighter future for the animals of Hyderabad.
