Samarpan Distributes Science Kits to 372 Government Schools
To generate curiosity and promote experiential learning rather than just text book study, the Samarpan team started donating science kits to schools and conducting Teachers Training programs, partnering with various organizations since 2016. As part of this program, schools are provided with models (science kits) and aids to improve the impact of education. In addition, teachers are trained to contribute in ways that add to the value of the existing syllabus. The Samarpan team is working in collaboration with Infosys Science Foundation / Agastya Foundation & India Literacy Project (ILP) for this initiative. These cost effective kits can be used by the teachers to conduct an experiment that is relevant to the concept being taught in class. The kits, contain several experiments and are available to the students on demand. We are trying to help students understand the real life application of various scientific concepts. When children learn these concepts through experiments, it makes the learning fun and excites their imagination. Infosys employees voluntarily collect funding for these science kits.
So far, we have covered 22 districts, making an impact on 372 government schools, benefiting 152,100 students and over 600 teachers.
Many students from schools which were part of our program have participated in science projects and exhibitions at the school, district and state levels and won awards. Students from Raichur were selected to participate in Inspire Awards in 2016-17.
