Empowering Young Minds: A Digital Solution for Visually Impaired Students
DC CSR group from Kolkata is helping visually impaired students to overcome barriers and access education independently.
Visually impaired students often face significant challenges in their education, particularly when it comes to accessing and comprehending study materials. Recognizing this hurdle, Dishari, a dedicated CSR group from Kolkata, stepped in to illuminate the path for these young learners.
After visiting a school for visually impaired students, Dishari volunteers witnessed firsthand the difficulties these students encountered. The time-consuming process of reading Braille books was a major obstacle, especially for older students. To address this challenge, Dishari, with the generous support of the Infosys Foundation, provided audio kits to 110 students from classes 6 to 12.
These audio kits, equipped with recording features, earphones, and memory cards, empower students to independently learn and revise their lessons. They can record in-person classes and download study materials provided by the school staff. With a simple press of a button, these students can access educational resources without relying on Braille, freeing them from the constraints of time and providing greater flexibility in their learning journey.
By providing these audio kits, Dishari is fulfilling the Infosys Foundation's commitment to ensuring quality and accessible education for all. This initiative not only alleviates the challenges faced by visually impaired students but also empowers them to pursue their academic aspirations with confidence and independence.
