SOCIAL IMPACT RECEPTION
Education in Emergencies: When the Cameras Leave
Hosted by Infosys & Street Child | January 21st, 2025 // 18:00 CET
The first 72 hours of a humanitarian crisis captures the world. But what happens afterwards? What about when an emergency becomes a protracted crisis?
As Ukraine approaches its third year of war, Infosys will spotlight the education crisis that happens in these contexts. Education in Emergencies is a global, long-standing problem.
As the conflict in Ukraine persists, over 3,000 schools have been damaged or destroyed, leaving nearly half of school-aged children—1.9 million—dependent on partial or fully remote education. Over the past year, Infosys has partnered with Street Child to address this critical challenge, including the renovation of seven digital learning centers in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and the development of teacher and student resources through our Infosys Springboard platform.
Join Infosys and Street Child for a thought-provoking session where we explore the pivotal role education plays in humanitarian settings. By convening leaders from business, government, and NGOs, our expert panel will address significant questions that lie ahead:
- How can cross-sector collaboration create impactful interventions for the education crisis in protracted emergencies
- What happens to young people when the news cycle ends and global attention shifts elsewhere
- How can we drive meaningful actions with digital initiatives that bridge the gap in access to education, ensuring that learning remains undisrupted
