SOCIAL IMPACT RECEPTION

Education in Emergencies

Hosted by Inderpreet Sawhney & Street Child | January 18th, 2024

Ukraine. Afghanistan. Lebanon. Sudan. Venezuela.

These are just a snapshot of countries in crisis. Education is a fundamental right, and yet learning is in crisis.

The pandemic resulted in the interruption of 1.6bn children and young people’s education. For many households, this crisis was temporary but there are still 222 million crisis-affected young people that need education support.

Education in Emergencies is chronically underfunded - only 3% of global humanitarian funding allocated to learning.

At the World Economic Forum, On January 18th 2024, Infosys and Street Child hosted an Education House. Together, they brought an esteemed panel from the private sector, civil society and government to discuss and action how we as a collective can innovate education and make it accessible to all children.
