AWS Database Migration Services

Overview

Infosys Database Migration Offerings, powered by the Infosys Live Enterprise Application Development Platform, part of Infosys Cobalt, help migrate databases to proprietary, open source and cloud native databases on AWS. We support homogenous migrations such as Microsoft SQL Server to Microsoft SQL Server, heterogeneous migrations across RDBMS such as Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle to Amazon Aurora or RDS PostgreSQL, and modernization of RDBMS to NoSQL databases like Amazon DynamoDB.

We support leading AWS database services like:

• Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) – Managed relational database in the cloud, supporting six familiar database engines including Amazon Aurora, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Amazon Aurora - MySQL and PostgreSQL-compatible relational database built for the cloud.
• Amazon DynamoDB – Fully managed, serverless NoSQL database that supports key-value and document data models.
• AWS DMS (Database Migration Service) - Migrates data from source database to target database in AWS, supporting both one-time data migration as well as continuous data replication.

Our offerings span the end-to-end database migration journey, including assessment, schema conversion, code conversion, data migration and testing.

Using the database migration features of the Infosys Live Enterprise Application Development Platform, we bring hyper-automation to every stage of migration. The platform provides an integrated workbench that can be used by multiple agile teams working in parallel, and an integrated dashboard for the program managers to get a live view of the progress made by each team. Platform features include:

• Automated Assessment – A tool-based assessment to determine the feasibility of migrating the existing portfolio of databases to Amazon RDS or Amazon Aurora. It also helps prioritize the databases based on the complexity and feasibility of migration.
• Impact Analysis – Automated analysis to identify the changes required to make the schema, data and code compatible with the target database service. This drives the schedule and effort estimates for the actual migration.
• Schema and Code Conversion – Automated and assisted conversion of the schema and associated code (stored procedures, functions, packages, etc.) using Infosys ML-based conversion along with tools like AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
• Data Migration – Seamless migration of large volumes of data complementing AWS services like AWS DMS and AWS Snowball.
• Automated Data and Regression Testing – Automated testing of outputs of procedures, functions, packages etc. post migration gives up to 40% reduction in data testing effort and ensures completeness and accuracy of data migration. The testing can be repeated on data loaded in increments as part of a migration.
• Data Masking - Enables testing with live data in lower environments while not compromising on security and privacy requirements.
