The breakneck speed at which the technology landscape is evolving ensures that high-tech firms are perpetually in a state of alertness to spot and act on opportunities that can enhance their business prospects. Continuous innovation through the intelligent harnessing of data, new design thinking, new business models, and expanding ecosystem is the only way to fulfill expectations of demanding customers and the overall market.
Infosys surveyed 81 executives from high-tech industry with over US$ 1 billion in revenues across the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand to understand their experience of application cloud transformation. The survey respondents were senior executives involved in digital and cloud initiatives.
The survey was aimed at understanding the external and internal drivers that trigger the movement of high-tech applications to the cloud. These firms expect the application cloud transformation to deliver on many fronts. Some interesting findings from this survey:
- Top three objectives that high-tech firms expect to achieve through the cloud apps transformation are faster time to market (64%), exploit cloud’s advanced computing capabilities (57%), and use cloud as a foundation for digital transformation (54%)
- High-tech industry trails overall trends in the number of business-focused firms but has significantly more agility-focused firms than the other industries. Becoming a leaner and nimbler organization so that they can respond to fast changing customer needs appears to be the emphasis
- High-tech industry (57%) is ahead of the median number across industries by seven percentage points in terms of moving all or some of their enterprise applications to the cloud
