The healthcare and life sciences (HLS) industry is undergoing significant disruption. In response to ecosystem demands, focus has shifted away from purely volume- and fee-based care to value-based models.

Infosys surveyed 142 executives from HLS organizations with over US$ 1 billion in revenues across the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand to understand their experience of application cloud transformation. The survey respondents were senior executives involved in digital and cloud initiatives.

The survey was aimed at understanding the external and internal drivers that trigger the movement of HLS applications to the cloud. Some interesting findings from this survey:

• Top HLS objectives for the cloud apps journey include innovating to provide competitive advantage (60%) and standardizing and integrating technology landscape (57%) across the enterprise
• Lowered TCO (40%), greater market flexibility (37%), and enhanced customer experience (37%) are top cited advantages for cloud app transformation
• HLS firms are apprehensive about building stakeholder confidence (53%), availability of internal talent (44%) and the need to continuously upgrade technologies (43%)
