Infosys Foundation and India Literacy Project to Develop 11 Model Schools in Rural Mysuru
Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic and CSR arm of Infosys, in collaboration with India Literacy Project (ILP), a non-profit organization dedicated to the cause of literacy and education in India, will develop 11 model schools in rural Mysuru. Infosys Foundation has committed to an investment of over INR 91 lakh to enhance educational infrastructure and resources and develop holistic capabilities in over 2,300 students in grades 8 to 10. This collaboration will also provide crucial STEM training to over 130 teachers, empowering students to pursue higher education and diverse career paths.
To achieve this transformation, the initiative will implement seven key interventions directly addressing critical resource gaps in rural schools. These include Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skilling programs, Digital classrooms, STEM labs, child-friendly libraries, spoken English training, Comprehensive Career Guidance through self-discovery, and improved sports facilities. By addressing issues like poorly equipped labs, lack of sports coaches, inadequate STEM training, and a shortage of age-appropriate reading materials, the project will create a more enriching learning environment.
This initiative aligns with the Karnataka Government’s ‘Samatva’ program and also strengthens Infosys Foundation’s long-standing commitment to providing equitable education to underprivileged sections of society. Further support is provided by the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru District, ensuring a collaborative and impactful approach.
