Infosys Research: Healthcare Sector Reports a Higher Average Cloud Spend than Other Industries

Infosys has released its new industry research, Cloud Radar: Healthcare Industry Report, which explores cloud use and spending in healthcare. The report reveals that healthcare companies depend on cloud for sophisticated solutions, growth and transformation. According to the report, 72% of surveyed healthcare executives expressed a strong satisfaction with cloud migration.

The report builds on Infosys’ latest Cloud Radar 2023 report, enriching insights through specialized research of industry practitioners, executives and subject matter experts globally. This deeper look into healthcare companies explains how cloud will be the medium through which new technologies and enterprise transformation spread across healthcare ecosystems, making it critical for payers, providers, partners and patients.

Cloud Radar: Healthcare Industry Report identifies four key findings:

  • Healthcare organizations report a higher average cloud spend than every other industry. On average, healthcare companies spend $38 million annually for cloud.
  • Healthcare cloud spending continues to increase. Two out of three respondents say their companies increased cloud spending in 2023, and three out of four will do so in 2024.
  • Nearly half of key cloud decisions are made in isolation. Cloud saturates every corner of the corporate enterprise, decisions about cloud need to involve leaders, technologists, and users.
  • Healthcare companies have consumed less than half of their contracted cloud service. Healthcare companies have consumed only 44% of the cloud they have committed to.
