Date: October 16-20, 2024

Venue: Infosys Mysore Campus

Event Overview

Infosys is hosting a 5-day IndiCS seminar with ACM India at its Mysore campus. This seminar will bring together researchers to delve into the fascinating interplay between continuous and discrete methods in theoretical computer science. Led by faculty members at IIT Bombay, the event will focus on the following key themes:

Themes

Discrete Optimization via Continuous Relaxations: Explore recent advancements in solving discrete optimization problems using continuous methods like linear programming (LP) and semidefinite programming (SDP).

Sampling and Optimization: Investigate the deep connection between sampling and optimization, especially in high-dimensional spaces. Discuss how sampling can address challenges in convex optimization and how optimization techniques can be applied to various sampling tasks.

Use of Iterative Methods in Complexity Theory: Examine the application of iterative methods, such as Newton's method, in decoding error-correcting codes and polynomial factorization.
