A global leader in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration solutions sought to modernize the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility.

Infosys combined manufacturing applications of Dassault Systèmes to implement a smart factory solution. Integrated MRO processes improved enterprise performance, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Key Challenges

  • Lack of visibility into operations and Work-In-Process (WIP) resulted in subpar performance
  • Manual processes for quality management, maintenance order tracking, and shift planning and scheduling increased effort as well as costs

The Solution

Better visibility into MRO operations enhances business capabilities and save costs

Infosys implemented a wireless shop floor solution leveraging Dassault Apriso Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solution for production execution and quality monitoring, and DELMIA Ortems Production Scheduler for intelligent scheduling and shift planning.

We identified process bottlenecks, and evaluated sensors as well as the wireless network to recommend a roadmap for the smart factory solution. We installed sensors for condition monitoring, and power meters for tracking solid and liquid waste. In addition, we migrated the waste management system to Apriso MES for real-time correlation with production.

Modernized MRO facility boosts KPIs

  • Increased elapsed turnaround time from 70% to 78% in five months
  • Improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) from 57% to 70%
  • Reduced revenue hours per part by 7%

Benefits

Smart factory solution

Provides visibility into demand for MRO services across assets including legacy machines without connectivity

Focus on sustainability

Drives sustainable MRO operations by improving efficiency and quality while reducing effort
