The Solution

Solution Approach & Implementation

  • Discovery and Assessment
    • Infosys performed Discovery and assessment of ~12000 servers, ~ 500 applications and provided the dispositions. Application to server mapping was unavailable when Infosys began the engagement. Identified ~2000 orphan servers for Decommission
    • There was very little knowledge/ documents available about application architecture. Team analyzed the applications, their dependencies and interfaces for migration.
  • Azure Engineering and DR Capabilities
    • Azure foundation was setup in 6-8 weeks’ timeframe thus enabling the customer to create a roadmap for the Azure transformation. Defined and established full-fledged, seamless multi region DR capabilities.
    • Established very well-defined operational procedures which enabled seamless transition and very stable platform on Azure
    • Developed Infrastructure as a Code (IaaC) for end-to-end provisioning of infrastructure on Azure public and Stack platforms
  • Migrations and Transformations
    • Move Group Identification, formation and Wave Planning Migration execution
    • Factory model migration including infra build, migrate, validate, cut-over and warranty support
    • Support for decommissioning aged and EOL Infrastructure
  • Cost Savings and Benefits
    • Customer saved multi million dollars through the Optimization / Migrations and decommission of on-prem Infrastructure
    • Contained the Azure consumption costs by defining platform standards, introducing various optimization measures and defining the landing zones for workloads in Azure and Azure Stack. This helped in 25-30% cost optimization.
    • Cost dashboards created to monitor and optimize the costs on regular basis. Derived workload categorization in Azure using tags to enable cost analysis.
