A German chemical plant design and operations company wanted an engineering data management (EDM) platform to achieve its goal of becoming an Industry 4.0 enterprise.
Infosys devised a strategy to modernize the EDM platform. We developed a technical and functional concept as well as a prototype for an enterprise EDM platform using tag-based data management.
Key Challenges
- Lack of single data source across the asset lifecycle resulted in process and operational inefficiency
- The impact of design changes across systems needed to be traced, so that maintenance systems were updated with changes by the engineering center
- Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products did not create a digital twin of the chemical plant

The Solution
Infosys created an EDM road map and demonstrated EDM concepts through prototypes

Our team undertook a requirements analysis against out-of-the-box (OOTB) features available in SmartPlant Enterprise for Owner Operators (SPO) vs Aveva Engineering. We also devised a data platform strategy for an IoT ecosystem.
