Nishant Upadhyay

VP, Information & Data Management, American Family Insurance

Nishant Upadhyay is the Vice President of Information and Data Management area in IS at American Family Insurance. The IDM team is responsible for building and supporting a data environment that meets the financial/regulatory, operational and analytical needs. The area also manages a data governance program to ensure that the data assets are leveraged appropriately.

Nishant joined AMFAM in 2007 as a data warehouse designer in the Business Intelligence group. He also worked as a Metrics Manager in the Claims area where he partnered with the Claims field leadership to build a reporting framework that drove efficiency and accountability across the operations. He returned to Business Intelligence as a Director in 2014 with a focus on building speed, scalability and sustainability in the delivery model. As a part of that, he implemented an offshore/onshore delivery model that was optimized for cost, speed and quality. He led the implementation of a data environment that supported a strategic business system transformation effort that included a new policy, billing, claims and customer system for all lines (Auto, Property, Commercial Farm/ranch and Life). He also led the deployment of AMFAMs first Customer 360 solution.

Nishant was promoted to VP of Information and Data Management in 2017. His focus is on defining and executing on a strategy to migrate appropriate AMFAM data assets to the Cloud and build a foundation to leverage data across the enterprise. He is also enhancing the data governance program that can support next generation data capabilities including security and privacy challenges.

Nishant and his wife Wendy live in Sun Prairie, WI with their 2 boys, Nikhil and Milan. In his free time, Nishant likes to read on historical events and political biographies. He also likes to travel and experience different cultures and cuisines.
